TIME TO ACT

Between Melting Ice & Finding Courage

Tickets & Filmtour Dates

“Time to Act delivers a powerful call for a shift toward more sustainable thinking and action”

Helge Heegewaldt (President of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency)

We are standing at a tipping point.
We know what’s happening. We see it. We feel it.
The climate crisis is not a problem of the future. It is our reality.

A documentary filmed in Iceland about change, adventure, courage, hope and the power that emerges when we realize that transformation is possible.

The climate crisis is complex and uncomfortable

Extreme sports athlete and environmental activist Michael Walther embarks on a remarkable journey: exploring Iceland’s nature on his stand-up paddleboard, feeling the climate crisis up close as he moves between glaciers and whales. As part of his Zero Emissions Project, he meets people who refuse to stand by and instead put real solutions into practice.

With this documentary, we want to show that even though the climate crisis is complex and uncomfortable, positive change grows from hope and courage. Rather than pointing fingers, we tell stories that reveal a simple truth: everyone can make a difference.
Far from the clichés and approaches we so often encounter.

The Documentary

The climate crisis is not a problem of the future. it is happening now.
In their new film, Kiel-based extreme sports athlete and climate advocate Michael Walther, together with filmmakers Till Schauder and Phil Schreyer, take viewers on an extraordinary journey through Iceland. Into a landscape that is changing before our eyes, and into a future that we still have the power to shape.

Exploring glaciers and whale habitats on his stand-up paddleboard, Michael Walther experiences the effects of global warming first-hand. But the film doesn’t focus solely on what is disappearing. It also highlights what remains & on what is being built. Solutions, people who are taking action, and a mindset that inspires hope. As part of the Zero Emissions Project, the team meets scientists, entrepreneurs, and visionaries of the Blue Economy who are shaping a sustainable future with innovative ideas.

Produced by Phil Schreyer and Till Schauder, this 40-minute documentary combines striking images of Iceland’s nature with inspiring encounters and a compelling message:

This film is an invitation to look closer and to take action. A story about the power of nature, the courage to change, and the adventure that lies ahead.

Our screenings are more than just a movie night. We want to offer you an evening that lifts you out of everyday life. A space where thoughts can wander: toward courage, toward hope, and toward the question of how change becomes possible.

Alongside the film, you can look forward to a diverse program:
(Live or via Videocall) Michael Walther gives a short introduction to the climate crisis, while Phil Schreyer or Till Schauder share insights into the journey itself and the making of the film. And even when Michael isn’t there, Phil and Till are deeply familiar with the realities of the climate crisis and the stories behind the film.
After the screening, we open up a space to reflect together, offer impulses for tangible action, and invite you to share your thoughts and questions.

Total duration: approx. 90–120 minutes
Live on site or via Video Call (when possible): Michael Walther, Phil Schreyer and Till Schauder.

The Zero Emissions Project

n 2008, Thomas Reinke and Michael Walther were on board the trimaran Playing for Success when they founded the Zero Emissions project. From the very beginning, the goal was clear: to inspire audiences, the media, and companies with spectacular watersports expeditions and, through them, raise awareness for key environmental issues. Even back then, it was obvious that environmental protection needed to be exciting and appealing if it was ever going to reach more people. Climate action has to become mainstream, as superficial as that may sound. Only then can we reach those who have never engaged with topics like climate change, ocean pollution, acidification, or resource conservation.

Today, we’re used to having every piece of information delivered straight to our screens. But which messages actually reach us? Through social media and blogs, we quickly find ourselves living in bubbles that make it seem as if the whole world is interested in the same issues we are. In reality, we encounter fewer, not more, perspectives. We “like” our favorite topics, and algorithms feed us more of the same.

That’s why it has become more important than ever to break through these boundaries with our actions and reach even more people. Because only as a team can we preserve this planet for future generations.

Together, we can make a difference.
